How to Apply for UP Scholarship 2026-27: Step-by-Step Process
Follow these steps carefully to complete your UP Scholarship 2026-27 registration online:
1. Visit the official portal scholarship.up.gov.in.
2. Click on 'Student' from the menu, then select 'New Registration' if you are a fresh applicant, or 'Renewal' if you already received the scholarship last year.
3. If you don't already have one, generate your One Time Registration (OTR) number using your Aadhaar-based e-KYC ā this is compulsory, and only one OTR can be created per student.
4. Select the correct scholarship category: Pre-Matric (Class 9-10) or Post-Matric Intermediate (Class 11-12). Choosing the wrong category is one of the most common reasons forms get rejected.
5. Enter your OTR number and click Submit to open the application form.
6. Fill in personal details, school details, category, income details and bank account information carefully.
7. Upload the scanned copies of all required documents in the correct format and size mentioned on the portal.
8. Recheck every field, then click Final Submit (saving as a draft is not the same as submitting).
9. Download and print the acknowledgement/application form.
10. Submit the signed hard copy along with photocopies of documents to your school within the deadline given by your institution.
11. Your school forwards the verified form to the District Welfare Office (DWO), where final scrutiny and approval happen before the scholarship amount is released.
Common Mistakes to Avoid While Applying
⢠Selecting the wrong scholarship category or Fresh/Renewal option
⢠Using a bank account that is not linked with the student's own Aadhaar (joint or inactive accounts often fail)
⢠Forgetting to click Final Submit after saving the form as a draft
⢠Missing the hard-copy submission deadline given by the school, even after applying online on time
⢠Uploading an expired income or caste certificate
⢠Not tracking application status for correction alerts from the school or DWO
