NVS Admission Last Date Extended 2026-27

What is NVS / JNV Admission?
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are a network of fully residential, co-educational schools run by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti under India's Ministry of Education. The scheme's main goal is to identify talented children, especially from rural areas, and give them access to high-quality, completely free education, food, and hostel facilities, regardless of their family's financial background.
NVS Admission 2026-27 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, make sure your child fits every rule below. NVS is strict about eligibility, and even a small mismatch can lead to rejection later.

• The child must currently be studying in Class 5 during the 2026-27 academic session.

NVS Correction Window 2026-27
After the final submission deadline closes, NVS usually opens a short correction window of two to three days, allowing candidates to fix limited fields such as area, gender, category, medium of examination, or disability status. Photograph, name, or date of birth corrections are generally not allowed at this stage, so applicants must double-check these details before the original submission itself. Keep checking the official website for the exact correction window dates, as these are typically announced right after the extended last date closes.
Selection Process and Reservation Policy
Admission to Class 6 is purely merit-based, decided entirely by the marks scored in the JNVST. There is no interview round. However, the following reservation rules apply while preparing the final merit list:
• At least 75% of the seats in every district are reserved for candidates from rural areas.
• Reservation for SC, ST, and OBC candidates is provided as per Government of India norms.
• A minimum of one-third of the total seats is reserved for girls.
• Seats are also reserved for eligible Divyang (differently-abled) candidates as per government guidelines.
• Only one Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya operates per district as a rule, though a few districts have two schools due to special sanction.
Why a Navodaya Vidyalaya Seat Is So Valuable
Parents chase the NVS admission last date so eagerly because of what a JNV seat actually offers. Education, hostel stay, food, uniforms, and books are provided completely free of cost for the first three years, and only a small monthly contribution applies from Class 9 onward for general and OBC category students, while SC, ST, girl students, BPL families, and differently-abled students are fully exempted. Every JNV follows the CBSE curriculum from Class 6 to Class 12, and the schools consistently produce strong board exam results, making this one of the most trusted free residential schooling options in the country.
