The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has officially launched its WhatsApp Channel to provide authentic, verified, and real-time educational updates to students, teachers, parents, and schools across India. This move aims to fight misinformation, improve communication, and make official education-related information easily accessible to everyone. With millions of students and teachers relying on NCERT for textbooks, curriculum guidelines, and academic resources, the organization wants to ensure that only accurate and official updates reach the public. Through this WhatsApp Channel, NCERT plans to share information related to: 📚 Curriculum updates 📘 Textbook announcements and revisions 👩🏫 Teacher training programs 🔬 Educational research and innovation 🧠 Student learning initiatives 🎓 Workshops, seminars, and national education programs 🌱 Projects promoting quality, equity, and holistic education The announcement was shared on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing NCERT’s mission to strengthen transparency and trust in education communication. This new channel will benefit multiple groups: Easy access to curriculum updates Notifications about learning programs Information about AI-based education initiatives Awareness of new textbooks and changes Updates on training programs Teaching resources and academic workshops Professional development opportunities Trusted information about school curriculum Alerts about textbook availability Official announcements without rumors This initiative ensures that people no longer depend on unofficial sources or fake news regarding NCERT policies. Before launching the WhatsApp Channel, NCERT had also introduced an interactive AI-powered mathematics learning program. Improve mathematical skills among students Make learning fun, interactive, and personalized Use Artificial Intelligence to track learning progress Support slow learners with adaptive learning tools This reflects NCERT’s commitment to modern, technology-driven education. In another significant development, NCERT collaborated with the Crime Branch of Delhi Police to combat illegal printing of NCERT textbooks. Authorities conducted a raid at an illegal printing facility located in: 📍 Village Jawli, Loni, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh 📦 Around 32,000 pirated NCERT textbooks 🖨️ Two high-capacity printing machines 🧾 Aluminum printing plates 📄 Paper rolls 🧴 Printing ink and raw materials This operation revealed a large-scale illegal textbook printing racket. The raid was conducted based on intelligence linked to an earlier case: FIR No. 336/2025 Registered on November 11, 2025 Filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Also involved violations of the Copyright Act, 1957 Officials from NCERT’s Publication Division were present during the raid to verify pirated textbooks and assist in identifying original copies. NCERT strongly reminded the public that: Printing, distributing, or selling pirated NCERT textbooks is a punishable offence under Indian law. Pirated textbooks: ❌ Contain incorrect or outdated content ❌ Harm students’ learning quality ❌ Cause financial losses to the education system ❌ Promote illegal business practices By stopping piracy, NCERT aims to protect students, maintain education quality, and ensure fair access to original learning materials. Despite these positive initiatives, NCERT is currently facing a serious staffing shortage. According to data presented in the Rajya Sabha on December 17, 2025: Total sanctioned posts: 2,844 Currently filled: 1,219 Vacant posts: 1,625 This means more than 50% of NCERT positions are currently unfilled. Group A (Senior officials) Group B (Mid-level roles) Group C (Support and administrative roles) The staffing details were revealed in response to a parliamentary question raised by: Rajya Sabha MP Samirul Islam The Ministry of Education confirmed: Ongoing reliance on contractual staff Need for permanent recruitment Delays in hiring over the last five years This raises concerns about workload pressure, content development delays, and administrative efficiency. NCERT’s recent actions show both progress and challenges: ✔ Digital outreach through WhatsApp ⚠ Staff shortages Experts believe that if staffing issues are resolved, NCERT can further strengthen India’s national education system. The launch of the NCERT WhatsApp Channel marks a major step toward modern education communication. Combined with its efforts to fight piracy, adopt AI, and improve educational quality, NCERT is working toward a more trustworthy and future-ready education system. However, addressing the high number of vacant posts will be crucial to ensure smooth operations and faster academic reforms. Why Did NCERT Launch a WhatsApp Channel?
