The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has introduced a new exam pattern for the 2025 academic session, bringing major changes for students of Class 10 and Class 12. Under the updated guidelines, the RBSE board exams will now be conducted twice a year, offering students greater flexibility and more opportunities to perform better in their final results.

Key Highlights of RBSE New Exam Pattern 2025

  • Exams Twice a Year: Starting from the next academic year,  Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) will hold Class 10 and 12 board exams in two separate terms annually, similar to the structure being adopted by various national boards. This significant change aligns with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
  • First Cohort for Two Exams: The new policy will be applicable to students enrolled in classes for the 2024-25 academic session who will appear for their final exams in 2025.
  • Best Score Counted: Students can appear in both attempts, but only their best performance will be considered for the final mark sheet. This ensures that students have an extra chance to improve their marks if unsatisfied with their performance in the first attempt.
  • No Compulsory Appearances: It is not mandatory for students to take both exams. If satisfied with their performance in the first exam, students can stick to those results.
  • Increased Flexibility: The board expects this move will reduce exam-related stress. It provides students with more time to prepare and a backup attempt, thus lowering academic pressure.

What This Means for Students

  1. Preparation Time: Students will get more time to focus on their studies and prepare thoroughly, as the split exam pattern allows for spaced-out study schedules.
  2. Focus on Conceptual Learning: The change fosters deeper understanding and discourages rote learning, encouraging students to aim for conceptual clarity across both terms.
  3. Exam Stress Reduction: The twice-a-year exams will help students manage anxiety and exam pressures, knowing a second attempt is available.

Implementation Details

  1. Boards' Guidance: Rajasthan Board has issued circulars to affiliated schools, detailing the new exam policy and expected preparations for the transition.
  2. Syllabus Division: The board is preparing to bifurcate the syllabus accordingly, so that each term covers a balanced portion of the curriculum.
  3. Result Compilation: The final result will reflect the best marks scored by the student in each subject, regardless of the attempt.

Future Outlook

This landmark decision positions Rajasthan Board as one of the pioneers among state boards to implement the dual-exam system for both secondary and higher secondary classes. Educationists believe these reforms can greatly help students adapt to modern academic standards and decrease the fear of board exams.
