In a bid to strengthen the professional capabilities of educators across the national capital, the Delhi government has officially reopened a series of online professional development courses for teachers, school heads, and teacher educators. These structured training programmes, conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), aim to enhance pedagogical skills, digital competencies, and classroom practices for the academic year 2025-26.
The reopened courses include the NISHTHA (National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement) programme, General Continuous Professional Development (CPD) modules, and short-duration nano courses. All these offerings are accessible online through the DIKSHA platform, where participants can learn through video lessons, readings, and assessments at their own pace within the stipulated timelines.
Under the NISHTHA initiative, specialised courses will focus on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). These courses are available in English, Hindi, and Urdu and are designed to reinforce effective teaching methods at the foundational stages in line with the National Education Policy (NEP).
The General CPD programmes include a broad range of contemporary topics relevant for today’s educators, such as:
Cyber hygiene and digital safety
Social media safety and cyber crime awareness
Inclusive education practices
Instructional design and techno-pedagogy integration
Media literacy and financial safety
Data privacy and protection
Environmental issues like e-waste management
These topics are tailored to equip teachers with skills needed in an increasingly digital and interconnected educational environment.
Additionally, nano courses on specific themes—such as cyberspace safety—offer short, focused training modules that complement the larger programmes.
Educators interested in enhancing their professional skills through these programmes must enrol by March 10, 2026, and complete their selected courses by March 15, 2026. After this deadline, access to the course materials and modules will no longer be available, emphasising the need for timely completion.
These online training opportunities are open to teachers, school principals, and teacher educators from various categories of schools, including government, aided, unaided, and private institutions across Delhi. The initiative seeks to ensure wider access to quality professional development, reinforcing the capacity of educators to meet diverse classroom challenges effectively.
With the rapid evolution of teaching methods and the integration of digital tools in education, the renewed NISHTHA and CPD courses provide educators with up-to-date skills and knowledge. This move reflects the Delhi government’s commitment to professional excellence in education, equipping teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences for students across all stages.
